Don'tcha Wish You Were This Talented?

So, my youngest brother stopped by this morning to eat food visit me and he couldn't resist playing with the Etch-A-Sketch my girls left out in the living room.

This is what he came up with. In about 5 minutes.

Yosemite Sam

How exactly do you do this? I can barely "draw" my name.

I'm so proud that my bro has become such a productive member of society!!

I'm a Winner!!!

Woohoo! I finally won a blog giveaway!!! I love winning.......just ask my Bunko gals! I entered a Skin So Soft (SSS) giveaway offered by Two Lines On a Stick (don't ya love that name??). And I won! Did I mention that yet??

This is how it went down:
First, Tara let us know about the 2 SSS products she was giving away. The original SSS and the SSS Bug Guard Expedition.

Here were her rules:
To enter, just leave me a comment and let me know which product you would like. I will separate the entries and draw a winner for each on Monday morning. The results will be posted on my bloggity blog. You’ll have to send me your address so I can get it in the mail to you :)

This was my response:
I’d love the Skin So Soft! I totally forgot about it keeping the bugs away! If there’s a bug within a 1 mile radius of me, it’s gonna bite me…….it must be because I’m sooo sweet! Ha!

Then, when I checked google reader, I saw this:

Skin So Soft Giveaway Winners
Thanks to all who entered! I put the names on paper and folded them each in half, put them in a bowl, and Jonathon chose the winners randomly.
The winner of the Skin So Soft original oil spray is Tami.
The winner of the Bug Guard Expedition with SPF is Michelle.
I contacted you both in case you didn’t see this post, so please reply with your address and I’ll get your prize in the mail Congratulations!

And sure enough, I check my e-mail and there's a message from Tara. Then I did a happy dance!

Happy Memorial Day!!

Our Gift to the Fallen
by Charlie Gragg

For each soldier that has fallen so that many may stand,
We honor their spirit, as they pass to God's hand.
For without their sacrifice, we would live forever in fear.
We pray for their loved ones and provide a salute and a tear.
God help us heal the wounds of hate and the misery of war,
That is our gift to our fallen heroes, that are amongst us no more.

Movie Hype = Disappointment

The title says it all.

Why do I listen to it? It usually doesn't end well.

Case in point - Juno.

Did I miss something? Ellen Page was nominated for an Oscar and so was the movie. What?? I have been wanting to watch this and finally got to on Friday. That's 96 minutes of my life I won't be getting back! Hubby should be thanking me for not making him sit through this. It was horrible. And where did they get their teen dialouge from?? My son talks nothing like that. My advice.....just say NO to Juno!

Here's a few more movies that were a huge disappointment to me!

The Blair Witch Project - I think I still have motion sickness!

Saving Private Ryan - Could it have been any longer? Hubby slept through most of it and didn't miss a beat!

Sideways - 2 men decide to take a wine country road trip.....and no woman made them?

Little Miss Sunshine - Huh?????

Does this movie hype get to you, too? What movies do you think didn't live up to their hype?

Why???

Yesterday, my oldest daughter and I were was getting ready to finish her school project and I realized I needed to run up to Office Depot for a few things. I jump in the car and back out of the driveway...........right into my son's Rodeo! Arghh! Don't worry. Nobody was hurt. His car was parked on the curb. Yeah, I know. Stop laughing!

In my defense, it usually is pulled up in the grass across the street. Not actually on the street. I totally took that for granted and was too busy watching the front end of my Durango. Hubby says I have no defense since the other car was parked. Hmph!!

Over there in that grass.

And in case your wondering, the Durango definitely won the smash up derby. The corner of my bumper is scuffed with paint and there are a few scratches. My son's door, on the other hand, is smashed in pretty good.

VS.

Yup! I'm a dork!

Shut Up, Molly!!

I hate pets!

I just wanted to get that out there.

Stop cursing at me.

I am not evil.

In my mind, I do love animals. Well, most animals. Most animals who do not live with me. And I don't like cats - at all. Sorry cat lovers! A pet, to me, is pretty much like having another offspring around to feed, make messes and stink up the house.

So, then, why do you have this beast you ask? Because, my lovely hubby, just brought her home one day. Yup, you heard me! He just came home, from work, in the middle of the day, with this smelly, messy beast. No he wasn't on his lunch break. No he wasn't working close to home - he was about 45 minutes away. No it did not occur to him, in those 45 minutes, to pick up his cell phone and call his wonderful wife and "discuss" this important family decision. Nope. He decided to use the shock tactic.

Me and the kiddos were hanging at the house when suddenly, hubby opens up the back door. I was a bit perplexed. We don't use the back door unless we're in the back yard. Now, he's standing there, kind of outside the door while its open with a slight smirk on his face. And before you know it, the beast walks in. Oh yes, hubby is still smirking. I ask him what he's thinking. He says she's free. I say take it back and the kiddos scream noooo. Then he proceeds to give me all the facts about her because that will make me want to let the beast stay. After listening to him blab and listening to the kiddos swoon over said beast, I gave the Mom speech....everyone has to help take care of the beast and if you don't she'll be gone and if she can't do her business outside she's gone. OK Mommy, we'll help Mommy, we LOVE YOU Mommy! I told you I wasn't evil!

Hubby got soooooooo lucky (not in that way)! The beast never had accidents in the house ever and so she's still here......4 years later.....against my will.

But I Knew That Already!

These words just came out of my hubby's mouth..........."You're right."

I LOVE when he says that!!

Just wanted to share.

Tidbit Tuesday

I'm just trying to figure out what works for me in my blogging world so I decided to try this. Tidbit Tuesday will (hopefully) be posted every Tuesday and will contain delightfully interesting facts/quirks/random thoughts about either me, my hubby or the kiddos.....or whatever tidbits I want to share.

This week, I guess I'll start off with me!

1. I hate ugly potato chips and ugly french fries. Yes, there is a difference. I will not eat those chips with black spots on them. I like my fries to be perfectly shaped and no black spots on them either. Trust me. It's a science. Don't ask me when this started because I've been doing it for as long as I can remember.

2. No matter how cold it is at night, I MUST have the ceiling fan on high. I even use a second, portable fan sometimes.....okay most of the time!

3. I NEVER, EVER walk around barefoot! Not even in my own house. NEVER!!

4. I am not very good at sharing. I do not share drinks. No one should ever attempt to use my pillow. And if I think someone used my towel, I will get a new one.

5. I take my own sheets to hotels. Plus as soon as I get into my room, I knock that nasty bedspread onto the floor. And I haven't even seen those Dateline or 20/20 shows where they do tests to see how clean hotel rooms are! I wouldn't be able to handle it!!!!

So there ya have it! I told you I was erotic neurotic!
What are some of your "quirks"?? Please, please share with me and help me feel a little less nutty!

Neurotically Yours!

More About Me (US)!

I thought I'd tell you a little more about myself and the fam. Can you handle it? Like I said before I am happily married to my high school sweetheart. We started dating during our freshman year and have been together ever since. I could never imagine my life without him in it. Stop gagging!! We have a 16 year old son, who, at the moment is still alive even though a demon has taken over my sweet child's body. We have two girls that are 11 and 10 and who are polar opposites of each other despite their close age. We also have a pet. A dog named Molly. The only pet my children will ever have in their lifetime (but that's another story!)

Word Confusion

Quite often my hubby has these moments of what I'd like to call word confusion. He either mispronounces a word or completely uses the wrong word while speaking. Let me explain.

Setting: a booth at Bennigans.
Time: prime lunch time. Did you understand me? 12 o'clock. On Friday.

Me - "I have such a bad headache. I hope its not a migraine."
Hubby - "Well, have you picked up your prescription?"
Me - a little confused "Huh?"
Hubby - "Your Valtrex. Did you go get your Valtrex?"
Me - hysterically laughing while my face turns 4 different shades of red.
Hubby - "What is so funny?"
Me - "You dork! Its Imitrex not Valtrex. Valtrex is for herpes!!" hahaha
Hubby - haha "Oops! Whatever its called."
Me - "Now everyone around us thinks I have herpes, you dork!" haha
Hubby - hahaha

Now of course at the moment my husband said Valtrex it got very quiet in the restaurant and I'm pretty sure the majority of the tables around us heard our conversation. Do you have someone in your life that has "word confusion"? Leave a comment and let me know.

Happy Mother's Day!

I'd like to wish all of you great moms out there a Happy Mother's Day!! Enjoy your day doing whatever you like even if its nothing at all!

Am I Neurotic??

As I was trying to come up with my blog name, my friend (the pusher) asked me what adjectives I thought described me. The only thing that came to my mind was neurotic. I laughed. Then she laughed.........but there was no disagreement from her. So began the quest to confirm that I am neurotic - which is a little neurotic wouldn't ya say??

First I ask my husband.

Me - "Do you think I'm neurotic?"
Hubby - "Like in a sexual way?"
Me -"What?" hahaha "Not EROTIC, NEUrotic!" hahaha
Hubby - hahaha "What does neurotic mean?"
Me - "A little obsessive, compulsive...you know...its kinda something I just know but I really can't explain."
Hubby - "I don't know."
Me - "Nevermind. Go look it up on dictionary.com."

Later I called my brother.

Bro - "Hello."
Me - "Do you think I'm neurotic?"
Bro - "What does that mean?"
Me - "Go look it up on dictionary.com RIGHT NOW."
Bro - "I'm not home right now."
Me - I kind of growl/grunt.
Bro- "How do you spell that? Diana (the barber and yes she knows me too) is going to look it up."
Me - "N-E-U-R-O-T-I-C."
Bro - "Are you sure? We can't find it."
Me - "Nevermind. Look it up on the computer and call me later."
Bro - "OK, bye."
Me - "Bye." (with a little disgust)

Several hours go by and I call my Mom while I'm sitting at Chili's with the fam.

Mom - "Hello?"
Me - "Do you think I'm neurotic?"
Mom - "I don't know. What does it mean?
Me - "Go look it up on dictionary.com. You have to look up neurosis because the definition of neurotic is: a characteristic of neurosis or some stupid definition like that. Are you going to look it up?"
Mom - "Well.."
Me - "What are you doing?"
Mom - "Just watching T.V."
Me - "Lean over, grab your laptop and look it up RIGHT NOW and call me back."
Mom - "OK, bye."
Me - "Bye." (with a little disgust again)

A few minutes go by and my cell phone rings.

Me - "Hey."
Mom - haha "First off I want to say that it says it is a relatively mild personality disorder." haha
Me - "What?"
Mom - "Just keep that in mind.....but yes I think your a little neurotic. And now I think your brother is and maybe even me." haha
Me - haha "That's what I thought. Bro definitely is too. Okay bye." haha
Mom - haha "Bye."

The next day my bro finally calls me back to let me know that "Yes, you are neurotic and I think I am, too." haha I tell him "That's what Mom said." haha

Finally, I received enough confirmation that I am neurotic. And I feel so much better!

First Post Ever

I have to admit that I only recently got into the whole blog thing. You see I have this friend who is a pusher. No not that kind. Usually she "pushes" food - yummy junk food - but that wasn't enough. No. She had to "push" her neurotic friend into reading blogs. Not just one or two (it never is) but many, many blogs which just leads to more blogs because all of us bloggers have to "push" the blogs we like on everyone else. Now, thanks to my friend, the pusher (who, from this day forward, she shall be named), I have to start my own blog. So here begins the life and times of a neurotic mom*! (*thanks K!)
